Intimate family journey for Solo Parents

July 2020

Families come in all shapes and sizes...

So if your planning to travel on your own with your child join us for a trip of a lifetime!

Travelling with the Africa Culture Center is like travelling with a group of friends. Our trips are made up of 3 - 5 like-minded families, and the kids tend to hit it off straight away, allowing you to enjoy some well-earned R&R.

We often find the whole families making friendships with other families from all over the globe, staying in touch long after our adventure ends!

Accra (3 nights)

Arrive in Accra and orient your family to the wonderful energy that is this dynamic city! We will visit historically significant sights and museums.

Your kids will have the opportunity to interact with Ghanaian kids and can choose to attend either a football (soccer) or arts & craft camp for a day.

Up for an adventure? We'll go bird and monitor lizard watching by canoe!

Kumasi (2 nights)

Enjoy Kumasi, heart of the Ashanti Kingdom with tours of Manhyia Palace (home of the Asante King) and traditional villages to see famed Kente cloth weavers and wood carvers in action.

We'll spend an afternoon picnicking at sacred Lake Bosumtwi.

Up for an adventure? We'll have a crash course in Twi and learn the significance of proverbs!

Cape Coast (2 nights)

We will follow the emotion laden slave route to Cape Coast, visiting a memorial at the Slave River.

We'll tour and reflect at the UNESCO World Heritage List slave castles of Cape Coast and walk its historic beach.

Up for an adventure? Your kids will test their bravery - we'll do a morning visit to the rain forest canopy walkway at Kakum National Park (crocodile ponds or birding hikes possible)

Accra (2 nights)

After a week on the road, we'll return to Accra to finish your last minute shopping at the Accra Arts Center.

As a group we'll reflect on our trip, discussing the wonderful differences and similarities of life in Ghana and US. Your families will receive a traditional blessing for a safe journey home.
